In the early days, figuring out night and day can be a real challenge, and light plays a huge role in that. It's a good idea to get blackout blinds for every room where your baby sleeps. When your little one is napping during the day, keep the room nice and dark to encourage sleep. But when they wake up, open those blinds wide and let the sunlight in! Let them know it’s time to be awake and active.

Make sure to chat a lot during the day, even if it feels a bit silly. Your voice helps them understand that it’s daytime and keeps things lively. When night comes, though, it’s a different story. Use a headlamp with a red light, or keep a really low light nearby—nothing too bright. From what I've seen, a bright light can really throw things off; just one flash in the eyes can add an extra 30 to 45 minutes before the baby settles back down. In the quiet of the night, soft lighting is the way to go to help your baby get back to sleep peacefully.

This light shown in the picture is WAY too bright! As an example. If you were to stretch your arm out, you should be able to barely see your hand.
